Bluebell Star, our blue roan Nokota horse, has lost her wintercoat and this is how bright she looks in her summer suit. A few months ago she was all black, except for her star.
She is a real beauty. She looks like she has a sweet temperament as well. You are so lucky. I would love to go riding today, I hope you are able to do so.
Very fun to see, but i think that she may surprise even more and that this is actually her spring coat; my bet is that she will turn darker again by summer and then not change colors so much or so fast again for at least a few months π Our roans, especially the youngsters, all looked essentially grey last April, but i still wonder if this year brings an even earlier spring, and maybe that has an impact, too…
Yes you’re right! We looked again at your photos of Bluebell from last summer. Interesting, it seems like the longer darker winter hairs turn grey before they rub off. Then underneath the slightly darker summer hairs comes to light. π Anyway it’s fun to have a new horse for every season, bet she likes it herself too. π
What a transformation! Such a beautiful animal.
